I’m Alex Kaplan, a wedding photographer and videographer based in New Milford, NJ, serving Northern NJ, NYC, and the Hudson Valley. For over 30 years, I’ve helped couples enjoy their day without feeling rushed — while I quietly capture the real moments, natural portraits, and genuine emotions you’ll still love decades from now.
As a Weehawken Pier proposal photographer, I’ve seen this waterfront location deliver magic time and time again. The city doesn’t just sit in the background here — it becomes part of the moment. The Hudson is calm, the boardwalk lights flicker on, and Manhattan feels close enough to touch. When blue hour hits, everything glows.
And that’s exactly where this proposal found its perfect timing.

We planned for sunset. Warm golden tones, soft sky, that dreamy light everyone loves.
But life had its own timing.
They arrived an hour past schedule — and the light had completely shifted.
Golden hour was gone. The skyline was now glowing in deep blue twilight.
Instead of trying to force the original plan, we let the moment be what it was becoming. And it ended up feeling even more cinematic.
The candles and roses he set earlier didn’t fade — they intensified against the darkening sky.
The skyline behind them lit up like a stage.
It felt intentional — like the night had been waiting for them.
The Proposal

He stepped into position between the candles.
She realized what was happening.
Her reaction came before her words — hands to her face, breath catching, eyes already filling.
And then there was that small laugh-through-tears moment — the one that says “I can’t believe this is happening, but of course it is.”
That split second when emotion hits before thought — that’s the moment people remember for the rest of their lives.

That first kiss after the “yes”?It always carries relief, joy, disbelief — all at once.

There’s a glow right after a proposal — joy that doesn’t need posing.

Family joined — laughter, hugs, tears, all happening at once.
The kind of chaos that’s pure happiness.

We slowed the pace.
Let them breathe.
Let the moment sink in.
The Hudson was quiet. The city felt softer now — like everything around them had stepped back so they could just be present together.

When you’re ready — we’ll create something real.
About Me — But Really, It’s About You
The most meaningful wedding photos never come from stiff poses.
They come from the quiet laugh you didn’t think anyone saw.
The look on your partner’s face during the vows.
The warmth of your people all around you.
I’ve been doing this for over 30 years — and I still get nervous before every wedding.
Not because I’m uncertain, but because I know how much it matters.
After photographing hundreds of weddings over the past few decades, I’ve learned something simple:
The best photos happen when you feel fully present.
That’s why I work calmly, behind the scenes — guiding when it helps, then stepping back when the real moments unfold. I’m always anticipating what’s next, so you never have to think about a thing.
My goal is simple: to help you relax, feel confident, and walk away with photos that feel like you — not a filtered version of someone else’s idea of perfect.
Most of my couples say the same thing:
“We’re so glad we didn’t have to worry.”
Alex made everything feel effortless — and the photos are incredible.”
