You won’t see me barking orders or staging fake moments.
I work quietly, guide when it helps, and stay one step ahead — so you can actually enjoy your wedding day.
I’m Alex Kaplan.
I’ve photographed weddings for over 30 years, and I still get a little nervous before every one.
Not because I’m unsure — but because I know how much it matters.
My approach is calm, clean, and personal.
I help you feel comfortable in front of the camera without turning your day into a photo shoot.
Most of the time, you won’t even know I’m there — but when you see the gallery, you’ll realize everything important was captured.
Real Emotion. Genuine Connection. Moments That Matter.
The best photos don’t come from stiff poses.
They come from the quiet laugh you didn’t think anyone saw.
The look on your partner’s face during the vows.
The warmth of your people all around you.
That’s what I’m always watching for — and that’s what I deliver.
If that’s the kind of experience you want, I’d love to hear more about your day.
I was born in Russia and came to the U.S. when I was seven. My photography journey started long before I ever picked up a camera.
My great-grandfather owned a portrait studio in Moscow, and my grandmother hand-colored black and white photographs by hand.
She was a true artist.
Later, my father ran one-hour photo labs and portrait studios in New York City. I grew up watching people bring in rolls of film and leave with memories they could hold onto forever. It left a lasting impression.
Photography runs deep in my family — but for me, it’s always been about how the images make you feel.
— legacy, personality, and a little chaos in the best way —
We live with our two sons, two dogs, two cats, and two parrots — and they all think they run the place!
I’ve been married since I was 23, and my wife is still my best friend. We’ve raised two incredible sons, Dean and Alec, and built a home filled with love, laughter, and a small zoo of animals.
A few years ago, I made a big lifestyle change and lost 75 pounds. That journey taught me discipline, patience, and that small steps really can transform your life.
When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll probably find me traveling in my RV, exploring new places, and enjoying the freedom of the open road.
I’m a quiet extrovert, a coffee lover, and a lifelong tech geek.
I’m drawn to classic films, WWII history, and the rhythm of street photography in NYC — especially around Fifth Avenue, where the light and the people always surprise you.
After 30+ years behind the camera, what keeps me inspired is simple:
I care. About people. About stories. About capturing moments that feel honest — not forced.
If you’re looking for someone who will show up with calm direction, a steady hand, and genuine heart — you’re in the right place.
I don’t believe in stiff poses or trendy edits. The most meaningful photos happen when you’re fully present — the way your partner looks at you during the vows, the stillness just before you walk down the aisle, the quiet squeeze of your mom’s hand, or the way your friends erupt in laughter during toasts.
My approach is simple: guide when needed, step back when it matters most, and always stay one step ahead of the moment. You’ll get honest, beautiful images that feel timeless — and feel like you.
