This photograph was made during wedding photography at Delta Hotels by Marriott Woodbridge, during the getting ready portion of the day. It wasn’t a planned moment, and it wasn’t something that needed shaping. It was already complete.

What I value about this image is the restraint it required. The scene was quiet, contained, and focused. The moment existed without me. My role was simply to recognize it and not interrupt it by stepping closer or drawing attention to myself.

I stayed in the doorway because that’s where the photograph made sense. The distance matters. It keeps the moment intact and allows it to remain private, even as it’s being documented. When you move too quickly or insert yourself unnecessarily, you change the dynamic.

As a wedding photographer at Delta Hotels by Marriott Woodbridge, I’m always aware of how easily real moments disappear once people feel watched. This image works because the people in it forgot I was there.

That’s why it matters to me. It reflects how I want to work — calmly, observantly, and with trust in what’s already happening.
