I’m Alex Kaplan, a wedding photographer and videographer based in New Milford, NJ, serving Northern NJ, NYC, and the Hudson Valley. For over 30 years, I’ve helped couples enjoy their day without feeling rushed — while I quietly capture the real moments, natural portraits, and genuine emotions you’ll still love decades from now.
Sayen House and Gardens engagement photos always deliver something special, and Kaley and Vincent’s session was no exception. These two brought their incredible chemistry—and their adorable dog—to one of Hamilton Square’s most beautiful locations, and we captured some seriously authentic moments together.
If you’re looking for a location that gives you variety without driving all over New Jersey, Sayen Gardens hits the mark. The white wooden bridges, the lush greenery, and those natural pathways create the perfect backdrop for couples who want something more than a cookie-cutter studio session.
Kaley and Vincent chose this spot specifically because they wanted their engagement photos to feel like them—relaxed, genuine, and connected to nature. They’re not the type to pose stiffly for the camera, and honestly, that’s when the best photos happen anyway.

We started on the iconic white bridge surrounded by ornamental grasses and greenery. The natural light filtering through the trees was exactly what we needed—soft but vibrant. Kaley wore an elegant white tank with an olive green wrap skirt, while Vincent kept it casual in a plaid shirt and jeans. Their style? Comfortable, authentic, exactly who they are.

Here’s what I’ve learned shooting Hamilton Square engagement photographer sessions for over 30 years: couples look their best when they forget the camera exists. Kaley and Vincent nailed this. Between shots, they’d joke around, whisper to each other, and just be present. That’s where the magic happens.

This black and white moment captured them completely losing it over something Vincent said. These are the images that end up framed on walls—not the stiff, forced smiles, but the real laughter that shows who you actually are together.
One of the best parts of this session? Their dog stole the show. If you’re planning New Jersey engagement session photos and wondering whether to bring your pet, the answer is absolutely yes. Your dog is part of your family, and having them in your engagement photos makes perfect sense.

They put a “My Humans Are Getting Married!” sign on their mastiff, and honestly, that detail made these photos even more personal. This is what their life looks like—not some sanitized version, but the real deal.

Kaley’s engagement ring deserved its moment. We captured a close-up that showed off the ring while keeping the focus on the connection between them. The details matter, but they should never overshadow the relationship.

Vincent kissing Kaley’s cheek while she smiled toward the camera—these are the moments that look effortless but actually come from trust. When couples trust their photographer to guide them without making them feel awkward, you get images that feel natural instead of staged.
What makes Sayen Gardens work so well for engagement sessions is the variety of settings within a compact area. You get intimate moments, environmental portraits, and everything in between without spending your entire session walking between locations.

This image captures everything I aim for in outdoor engagement photos NJ couples book with me. Pure joy. Authentic laughter. Two people who clearly can’t wait to marry each other. No forced posing, no fake smiles—just them.
If you’re considering Sayen House and Gardens engagement photos for your own session, here’s what makes it work:
I’ve photographed engagement sessions throughout Northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley, and Sayen Gardens consistently delivers for couples who want authentic, documentary-style photography that captures who they really are together.
Kaley and Vincent’s session reminded me why I love what I do. After 30+ years photographing couples, it’s the genuine connections that keep this work meaningful. They weren’t trying to create perfect Pinterest poses—they showed up as themselves, and that’s exactly what made their photos special.
If you want engagement photos that feel like you—not some manufactured version of what you think engagement photos should look like—Sayen House and Gardens is one of my favorite places to photograph couples in New Jersey. Engagement sessions book quickly during peak seasons, so let’s create something authentic together.

About Me — But Really, It’s About You
The most meaningful wedding photos never come from stiff poses.
They come from the quiet laugh you didn’t think anyone saw.
The look on your partner’s face during the vows.
The warmth of your people all around you.
I’ve been doing this for over 30 years — and I still get nervous before every wedding.
Not because I’m uncertain, but because I know how much it matters.
After photographing hundreds of weddings over the past few decades, I’ve learned something simple:
The best photos happen when you feel fully present.
That’s why I work calmly, behind the scenes — guiding when it helps, then stepping back when the real moments unfold. I’m always anticipating what’s next, so you never have to think about a thing.
My goal is simple: to help you relax, feel confident, and walk away with photos that feel like you — not a filtered version of someone else’s idea of perfect.
Most of my couples say the same thing:
“We’re so glad we didn’t have to worry.”
Alex made everything feel effortless — and the photos are incredible.”
Free parts of our entire wedding.
“One of the most stress"
Alex captured a version of me that actually felt confident and real.”
