Sveta & Dan’s Fall Wedding at The View in Jersey City (Lincoln Park)

I’m Alex Kaplan, a wedding photographer and videographer based in New Milford, NJ, serving Northern NJ, NYC, and the Hudson Valley. For over 30 years, I’ve helped couples enjoy their day without feeling rushed — while I quietly capture the real moments, natural portraits, and genuine emotions you’ll still love decades from now.

Last Sunday, I photographed Sveta and Dan’s fall wedding at The View in Jersey City. Modern architecture framed by autumn color, Manhattan in the distance, and Lincoln Park right outside—it’s the best of urban and nature in one place.

The View sits on Lincoln Park: willow trees, water, and fiery fall color steps from the door. Inside: floor-to-ceiling windows (photographer’s dream), exposed wood beams, and multi-tier circular chandeliers. You get natural light and park views all day—without going “outdoor wedding.” Industrial-chic, elegant, comfortable.

The morning began with quiet, calm moments before everything kicked into high gear. Sveta got ready with her mom, sister, and grandmother—those intimate family moments that set the tone for the day.

One of the sweetest moments was Sveta’s first look with her dad—just the two of them, a quiet breath before everything became official.
Before the ceremony, Sveta and Dan signed the ketubah with close family—a beautiful Jewish tradition that adds so much meaning to the day. The intimate setting on the blue velvet couch made it feel special and personal.

I’ve photographed many Jewish weddings in New Jersey, but this chuppah was something else: white fabric billowing down and an explosion of flowers—white orchids, hydrangeas, coral roses, and eucalyptus—cascading from the top. With those windows behind it and Lincoln Park in the background? Perfect.

Dan stood there in his black tux with a traditional white and blue tallit, and the look on his face when Sveta walked down the aisle with her parents… that’s the stuff I love capturing.

The ceremony was unplugged—no phones, just pure emotion and connection.

For the ceremony, Sveta wore a romantic lace ballgown—long sleeves, fitted bodice, and a train that pooled beautifully. She kept the lace topper through the ceremony and formal dances, then changed into a sleek satin ballgown with a cowl neckline that showed off her pearls. Modern, comfortable, and perfect for dancing.

After the first look, we headed to Lincoln Park for portraits. Late October in Jersey City is unbeatable for wedding photography—the willow trees, the water reflecting gold and amber tones, and soft afternoon light.

There’s a spot by the water where the willows create a natural canopy—that’s where we captured some of my favorites: Sveta and Dan simply walking, holding hands, being themselves.

We also did full family portraits—immediate and extended family from both sides. Multiple generations celebrating together.

After portraits in the park, we got some shots in front of The View’s modern architecture—the perfect blend of natural and urban.

The reception room is beautifully designed. Those circular chandeliers create incredible ambient lighting, and the exposed wood beams add character. Gold chiavari chairs, white linens, and centerpieces with coral roses, white orchids, and eucalyptus tied everything together.

Each table featured copper-toned numbers and honey-jar favors—a lovely Jewish wedding tradition.

The sweetheart table sat right by the windows with Lincoln Park as the backdrop.

Unplanned moments always make a wedding: Sveta with her grandmother in a burgundy sequined dress (they even shared a special dance later). The flower girl absolutely owning the dance floor—splits and all. Pure joy.

The DJ packed the floor—parents, grandparents, and kids all dancing together. Six heartfelt toasts brought laughter and tears, and after the traditional parent dances came a beautiful grandmother-and-groom moment.

Later, glow sticks transformed the room into a joyful, colorful party—one of those memory-making finales.

Sveta and Dan honored tradition—the chuppah, ketubah signing—while making the day their own with thoughtful style and a focus on celebration. The venue delivered an elegant backdrop without feeling stuffy. Guests were comfortable, present, and danced late—exactly what you want.

Wedding Details:
Is The View in Jersey City good for fall weddings?
Absolutely. The modern interior and Lincoln Park’s foliage create a perfect blend of urban sophistication and natural color. Floor-to-ceiling windows keep you connected to the views without worrying about weather.
Where should we take portraits near The View?
Lincoln Park is steps away. The willow canopy by the water is a romantic favorite, and the pond path with bridges gives classic Jersey City backdrops. Golden hour in fall is especially beautiful.

Yes. Separate spaces make the timeline smooth and keep guests in one place—variety without the logistics.
Mazel Tov to Sveta and Dan! From the emotional ceremony under that incredible chuppah to the glow-stick finale, it was a joy to capture.

About Me — But Really, It’s About You
The most meaningful wedding photos never come from stiff poses.
They come from the quiet laugh you didn’t think anyone saw.
The look on your partner’s face during the vows.
The warmth of your people all around you.
I’ve been doing this for over 30 years — and I still get nervous before every wedding.
Not because I’m uncertain, but because I know how much it matters.
After photographing hundreds of weddings over the past few decades, I’ve learned something simple:
The best photos happen when you feel fully present.
That’s why I work calmly, behind the scenes — guiding when it helps, then stepping back when the real moments unfold. I’m always anticipating what’s next, so you never have to think about a thing.
My goal is simple: to help you relax, feel confident, and walk away with photos that feel like you — not a filtered version of someone else’s idea of perfect.
Most of my couples say the same thing:
“We’re so glad we didn’t have to worry.”
