I’m Alex Kaplan, a wedding photographer and videographer based in New Milford, NJ, serving Northern NJ, NYC, and the Hudson Valley. For over 30 years, I’ve helped couples enjoy their day without feeling rushed — while I quietly capture the real moments, natural portraits, and genuine emotions you’ll still love decades from now.
Our Lady of Good Counsel, Booth Park, and Mamma Vittoria Catering
On May 31st, I photographed Elizabeth and Conor’s wedding—and it couldn’t have been more full of love, energy, and genuine emotion. From start to finish, this day had a little of everything: family moments, unexpected laughs, meaningful traditions, and the kind of connection that’s just a joy to capture.
We started the day at Elizabeth’s childhood home in Pequannock. Everyone was already dressed and ready, so we jumped right into portraits—out on the deck and around the house. The bride, her sister (also Maid of Honor), and the whole bridal crew were relaxed and ready to go, which made my job easy. These kinds of mornings are some of my favorites—no rush, just good energy and great people.
While I was with the bride, Alec was with Conor and the guys at the DoubleTree in Fairfield. Let’s just say… they kept things entertaining. Conor was in a classic black tux and looked calm and ready to go, surrounded by a group of groomsmen who brought plenty of laughs.
The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Good Counsel, a beautiful Catholic church in Pompton Plains. This was Elizabeth’s home parish growing up, which made it all the more meaningful. The music, the light, the emotion—it all came together perfectly. And yes, I got the groom’s expression right before Elizabeth walked down the aisle.
After the ceremony, we knocked out some big group photos in the church and then headed over to Booth Park in Nutley for portraits. It had rained earlier in the day, but the skies cleared just enough for us to get the lush greenery and that romantic, natural light I love shooting in. The couple was incredible—so easygoing and connected.
We wrapped the day at Mamma Vittoria Catering, just around the corner from the park. No cocktail hour here, but the reception kicked off with a bang. The energy in the room was nonstop. First dances, anniversary dance, speeches, and even a few surprise dance battles—this crowd knew how to have a good time. Elizabeth and her dad even pulled out the YMCA on the dance floor.
We ended with a cake cutting and two big group shots—one with all the NJIT friends and another with everyone in attendance. The last shot of the night? A rainy, backlit umbrella photo that perfectly sums up their day: timeless, playful, and completely them.
Here are some of my favorite photos from the day:

About Me — But Really, It’s About You
The most meaningful wedding photos never come from stiff poses.
They come from the quiet laugh you didn’t think anyone saw.
The look on your partner’s face during the vows.
The warmth of your people all around you.
I’ve been doing this for over 30 years — and I still get nervous before every wedding.
Not because I’m uncertain, but because I know how much it matters.
After photographing hundreds of weddings over the past few decades, I’ve learned something simple:
The best photos happen when you feel fully present.
That’s why I work calmly, behind the scenes — guiding when it helps, then stepping back when the real moments unfold. I’m always anticipating what’s next, so you never have to think about a thing.
My goal is simple: to help you relax, feel confident, and walk away with photos that feel like you — not a filtered version of someone else’s idea of perfect.
Most of my couples say the same thing:
“We’re so glad we didn’t have to worry.”
